It’s summer in the Americas and in most of the world children are home from school. Wherever you are, I hope you re taking the opportunity to pause, reflect and rest.
As I noted in an interview with BC Business featured in their summer issue, I believe we need to thrive, not just survive in our workplaces and in our whole lives. Thriving depends as much on us as it does on the conditions in our context and how we choose to lead and influence our environments too.
Fraser Health Authority’s Yabome Gilpin-Jackson thinks employees need to thrive, not just survive.

For me, self-management this summer includes:
- Taking time out
- Spending time with family
- Doing the things I love: biking, dancing, reading
- Reflecting on what I want to accomplish throughout the rest of this year
- Writing…as a form of reflection and restoration
- Resting…
What are you doing to rest…so you can thrive?
